LUCY KRUGER & THE LOST BOYS NEW RELEASE ‘WINTER’

Winter is the first single from Lucy Kruger & The Lost Boys upcoming record, Summer’s Not That Simple.

“The sea can do craziness, it can do smooth, it can lie down like silk breathing or toss havoc shoreward; it can give gifts or withhold all; it can rise, ebb, froth like an incoming frenzy of fountains, or it can sweet-talk entirely. As I can too, and so, no doubt, can you, and you.” – Mary Oliver

Winter is a collaboration between Lucy Kruger and filmmaker and photographer, Caroline Mackintosh. It explores the need to step out of one’s head and into one’s body. To rupture the silence. To break. To bend. To be together.

“There is an innate sense of freedom and curiosity that has always drawn me to Caroline’s work and which felt important to this collection of songs. Filming Winter allowed my body the chance to be moved/felt/held by the elements. To consciously give into sensation for a few days. It was very meaningful for me to be able to work and play in this way.” Says Lucy.

The album, which will be released on the 15th of May, is a collection of intimate conversations expressed with a single voice and a sea of guitars. Most of the songs were written in a small spare room in the summer of last year, workshopped with the band in the autumn and recorded in the winter at Digital Forest Studios. The Lost Boys – Andre Leo, Lucas Swart, Calvin Siderfin and Werner von Waltsleben – have been working with Lucy for a number of years and have become her sonic sub-conscious. Their instruments drift, swell, collide and collapse around her voice to create the strange and familiar landscape of the album.

The band has been lucky enough to work with Permanent Record who will be releasing the album onto vinyl.
